Dragons Den Series 9 Review

Mehak Naheem online business entrepreneur talks about the new dragons den series 9 which has recently started. Mehak had a few points she wanted to talk about and review the first episode of the dragons den series 9. The internet is such a brilliant channel to attract a huge market yet many people do not realise the power of it yet.

Working with the right mentor and getting the right resources and tools available to your business is vital for the success of any business. it’s not about the product, it can be amazing however without a demand and a profitable margin there is no business. After going over the pitches in this dragons den series review I had a few comments to add. Mehak Naheem entrepreneur talks about the new dragons den series 9. Today I will be talking about the dragons den series 9! I am doing this because after watching the first show in the series I had many comments that I wanted to add to the programme.

Dragons Den Series 9 -Duncan Bannatyne

Now because I also work on the internet, I was very surprised to see Duncan Bannatyne say the online toy store wouldn’t work. I would say that Duncan Bannatyne was not very clued up about the internet and I think that maybe a lot of people are in the same boat. If you don’t use the internet a lot you are maybe not aware of the power of the internet as a means to make money from. We probably use it without even realising it and there’s millions or even billions made on the internet which people do not even know about!

Now I know a lot of people are criticising the massage chair. It’s probably just a massage chair and someone lies there listening to an audio which is recorded, because I study a lot of self help I know a lot of people are not in the same position as me and maybe don’t know about self help. This is very powerful and helps change you as a person for the better. Yes it may be very relaxing being on a massage chair while maybe listening to the audio but I don’t think that the weight loss aspect is something that can work with that. Obviously for weight loss as the dragons had said you would physically need to go to the gym or change your diet or do something. Self help would help because it would get you in the right mindset get in the right state to look after yourself because a lot of the time people are stressed, overweight, and the reason they don’t look after themselves is because of another issue. Maybe it’s financial, maybe it’s emotional, whatever you may have heard of the saying ‘emotional eating’ and that’s when people eat for the sake of it. While they do daily activities such as watching tv, they don’t realise that they’ve eaten a whole packet of biscuits and they’re left wondering how did that happen?

So personally I don’t think that the chair was a very bad idea however maybe the product, brand or the end purpose of the product was 100% correct. Maybe if the person who invented the chair is watching then they can change what the chair’s purpose was and help people learn more about self help then maybe that can be a better business in my opinion.

There was also another guy in the programme who had gone to Duncan Bannatyne and he was negotiating with him for one of the deals. What I found was quite interesting because he was sort of negotiating with Duncan and the other Dragons were there sitting waiting for him, they had not even given him feedback of whether they were ‘in’ or ‘out’ so personally from an Entrepreneur’s point of view and from negotiating skills, personally I think what he should have done was gone to Duncan and said I see that you’ve made an offer, I will see what the other dragons offer and then make my decision. Then he started doing the same thing with Hilary Devey! After Duncan he went to Hilary Devey, spent ages negotiating putting together a deal with her and again other dragons waiting.  Hilary Devey had offered him a team but he had said he only wanted Marketing help, Hilary Devey had offered him any help he required, still he went to Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis.

Dragons Den Series 9 -What I think

I think that was the wrong decision to make if Hilary was providing the expertise, obviously she would want the best output as an investor. She’s been there,someone very successful I am sure she would have been able to assist him. He decided he didn’t want a team and Deborah Meaden had made it quite clear that she would not provide him with a team but just offer him mentoring services so personally I think that Hilary Devey would have been a better choice.

Peter Jones made a good point that it’s not the idea or concept which makes a good business work, it’s the actual business model, sometimes it’s very complex and I have seen for myself that it’s the simple ideas which make a great business. You don’t need something extravagant or complicated.

A prime example is restaurants, service where they offer food.

Dragons Den Series 9 and Gadgets

Some people go into the dragons den and have all these gadgets, personally I am not a gadget person but maybe they are and they’re thinking that because they like it and would use it, it would be a great business but that’s not necessarily the case because for a business you need a high enough demand and market. Sometimes an idea isn’t enough and you have to decide whether the business has potential, brand, could you develop a brand, is it got a profit margin, what is the profit margin, is it even worthwhile you even making this into a business. So in this dragons den series 9 let’s see what weird and wonderful opportunities come to the den.
